The Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is a beautiful and classic model by Patek Philippe. Featuring an 18k white gold casing, 18k white gold bezel, silver dial, a Sapphire crystal dial window, and a manual movement, this is a wrist watch for those who do not want a complicated time piece.
This is a hand-wound watch that features hour markings, three sub dials, and two windows that display the day of the week and the month at the 12 o’clock position. With additional indices surrounding the edge of the dial, this time piece looks more akin to an aviator or sailor design.
The manual movement is beautifully simple and includes 24 jewels and a mixture of gold and stainless steel to offer the best movement possible. This Swiss-made watch absolutely stunning, with an antique white dial colour that has a beautiful contrast against the 18k white gold case. The band material is a dark brown fine leather made from calfskin—however, your band can come in a variety of colours and materials.
The dial face is the most fascinating part of this time piece. It offers a classic design while looking very busy. The outer edge shows non-functional design numeral markings of water depth up to 500 meters; followed by numerals representing the seconds in groups of five; underneath the 12 o’clock position are two separate windows side-by-side that display the day of the week and the month of the year.
There are also three sub dials at the 3 o’clock position, 6 o’clock position, and the 9 o’clock position. They display the half hour, a 31-day calendar/moon phase display, and a 60 second/24-hour clock, respectively. These sub dials are excellently made multi-display features that offer the wearer a host of time information at a single glance of their time piece.
This model is a favourite among luxury time piece collectors, and you can own it for the very reasonable (ahem!) sum of $141,990. If you’re a real collector and watch enthusiast (as well as having pretty deep pockets), this may indeed seem like a worthwhile price. However, just for comparison, for the same price you could buy 26 Rolex Submariners, or 473 Calvin Klein watches. Incredible!
